Due to the better-than-expected response for our Top SEO Company competition last year we have decided to run another this year except spiced up a little. We’ll still run under the Regional [Scotland], National [UK] and International categories using the following search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN) as our point scoring environments. The search terms have also increased but the points determined by the seedings remain the same.

I didn’t think I was going to get here this month what with serious hosting problems (I know this is going to have a kick-back at some time) and my sheer impatience in waiting in phone queues (just over an hour to get answered and that was at the quiet time).
But hey, here they are… the latest stats on those UK companies that KNOW how to rank their site properly. Getting high positions in Google is one thing, knowing how to get your site listed highly across the major three engines is something else and that’s why these companies below deserve their special mention month after month.
Before I get to the results can I just add a big thanks to those that got in contact with myself while I was having these server problems. Much appreciated.

I can’t believe its that time again. Hasn’t September flew in? So, what went on in September - we’ll Google went after those paid links especially those that blatantly sat above the radar. Has it effected the rankings of the Top Ten SEO Companies League? Not really! The cream of the crop don’t just rely on paid links - they work at getting their site to rank well. Its why their listed here after all. We have made another alteration though this month. We are just back to focusing on the Top ten Companies only, well it is called ‘The Top Ten SEO League’ after all.

Its been a hectic month but at last we have finally got around to once again publishing the results for July. The scoring process got an upgrade and we have also added a new feature - The Next Best - were we have the SEO Companies that just missed out on the Top Ten for their League. Each month we run a little program here at North South Media to pick out the top SEO Companies that are ranked highly for their profession across all the major search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN) and score them appropriately according to their position against competitive keyword queries.
This excerise not only shows ourselves who has been pro-actively marketing their site but also allows us to get a better insight on the up-and-coming companies who are just outside the Top Ten and are pushing their way in.
The project was taken from a regional, national and international view point. The regional area chosen was Scotland (it is only right that I run the campaign in my own market place), the national area was the UK.
We at North South Media would welcome your comments and remember we don’t do noFollow - so any comments posted, good or bad, with the exception of spam, will be posted and some link juice along with it.
Below are the rankings for the present and past months.
The segments are as follows:
- Regional : Scotland
- National : UK
- International
Points were awarded for a company’s position within the search engine for various competitive keyword phrases. The points were also weighted against the participating search engines in the experiment.

- Google.co.uk : 30 pts for 1st; 29 pts for 2nd and so on…
- Yahoo.co.uk : 15 pts for 1st; 14 pts for 2nd and so on…
- MSN.co.uk : 10 pts for 1st; 9 pts for 2nd and so on…
