It’s the start of British Summertime here today, although the sight of the rain lashing against my window you wouldn’t think so. During the night the clocks went forward meaning the start of lighter nights. And talking of starts thought I would have a go at producing my own Sunday SEO / Search Supplemental - highlighting posts that I have enjoyed for various reasons – within the community.

Over the last week I have been the victim of a rather unhelpful individual / company submitting my site to various FFA sites. Now I’m not too sure about the effect having my site included in these directories will have, if any. But its more the annoyance factor that is bothering me.

I’m now into my third month of running my seo and internet marketing company full-time. And what a ride on rollers it’s been. It reminds me of going to the supermarket and picking one of those trolleys that seems fine at the beginning then suddenly you realise that one of the coasters isn’t aligned properly and your steering it sideways just to get it to go forward.

Many people see a website as an extension of their business. They treat it like a top level salesperson or marketing manager worth their weight in gold. They throw lavish design, marketing and SEO budgets at it making it perform like a World Champ. Its there working for them 24/7. Its a priceless commodity, sometimes the only commodity. Yes, many people know the worth of their website. However, the majority don’t.

Using articles to coincide with an SEO campaign is old hat, its been around for years and over the last year or so I have seen a number of commentators write off its effectiveness. Much more emphasis is put on producing the content live on your own site, via a blog or media distribution page i.e. pdf files for download. But I’m still a believer in article marketing and going by the results of the techniques I use the search engines agree with me.

I have been reading a blog post recently about how SEO can help your business.
Now to be honest the blog article is just surface noise in my opinion – it starts off well enough, sounding out that the creation of a site alone won’t get you found in your niche. Then begins to wobble some when using an example of a website selling ’shoes’ and stating that:
“… when there are 558 million pages resulting from a search for shoes in the UK. ”
