Good to see you’re keeping this going, even if I have dropped out of the top ten this time! One question, why did you decide to use optimization with a z rather than optimisation with an s for the UK listings?

    cheers

Bill we had a big discussion early in the campaign - unfortunately I lost my comments and I had no back-up of the db :-(

The short of it all was that when we type in “Search Engine Optimisation” Google asks “Did you mean: Search Engine Optimization”

Until they get this sorted then that’s what we will count for in the scoring

Wasnt it also due to the fact that the z generated a better return as the s? Though I guess Google correcting the search kinda automatically did that.

Seing as us Brits seem to like the S spelling for words like Optimisation then maybe the S should be for National and Scotland and the Z should be for International?

Unfortunatly I think that may reduce my score on the tables so screw that.

Oh and also yes there was a big discussion on S and Z previously but as mentioned the comments have been deleted and there is not exact reasons why the spelling is used in the rules thread, so maybe you could expand on it.

    Why Z and Not S –

Mike got it all started when he posted this:

“Guess I’m gonna have a look at targetting those terms and try and get in for August :) Is there a reason you use the ’s’ spelling of optimisation rather than the ‘z’ when Google still says that ‘optimisation’ is a misspelling?
Cheers and keep up the good work”

To which Insite backed up with this thread:

“MercuryThread makes a good point especialy when google returns zero in the way of semantics for the ’s’ spelling. You can use these searches in google to see what I mean.

    ~optimisation -optimisation

    ~optimization -optimization

I recently and rather stupidly removed most of the ‘z’ spellings from my site and seen some rankings tumble. Thats my job for the weekend!”

And finally I replied that there was proof that a site does get more traffic for the Z and not the s.
Until Google remove the misspelling nag (and they have done it in the past only to quickly place it back in there) then we run with z.

Hope that clears most of that up. :-)

God I said something intelligent whatever next - all I need to do is go and fix my website and my blog and then maybe I can start saying more things intelligently. On which subject if anyone knows a good host with a reseller account that doesnt block ping calls and has a one click install for wordpress 2.2.2 let me know.

Our Internet Marketing chart will be up tonight also - its now at http://www.imjuk.com rather than at justmarketing - god part of me wishes I’d never moved to a self hosted blog the transition has killed my traffic!

    Hi All

First time I’ve caught this page, excellent work, found the link through our stats, good to see healthy competition going on, chuffed Blueclaw is ranking well.

    We’ve developed a keyword ranking tool - check: http://www.blueclaw.co.uk/html/bluescore-seo-reporting-tool.html

We can white label, give me a shout if interested. We’ll set up a few test accounts.

    Cheers
