SEO Contest, Fitba and Rockstar’s

So I have finally bitten the bullet and prepared myself for the acid test. I have signed up for an SEO Contest. It is intended as a bit of fun but knowing myself I’ll get too much involved too quickly and my dreaded achilles heel of being too competitive will come to the surface.

That’s why I’m inviting all the regular posters (Hobo, Insite, Boydie, Mercury, Just Marketing etc…) to get involved and lets try and claim a Saltire coveted prize. It may make a few people within the industry sit-up and notice this wee country. I’m running under the moniker of ********** whom I give a whole lotta hours out of my working week too. Don’t get me wrong within 5 months I had already cemented them in the SEO, Web Design, E-Commerce and Video Marketing world’s. Cold calling customers is now a thing of the past. However, I cannot take all credit - I just pointed the way - the Team did all the hard work.

I have absolutely no idea where my competitive streak comes from, my best guess is football or fitba as we like to call it. I loved it when I was a boy. I loved the spirit, the effort it took from everyone from training to the game itself and especially when we won (i was a living hell on the park when we got beat). My better half says I’m too competitive sometimes even when I’m beating the kids at games. I need to ease up. But I can’t its in my blood. My brothers are the same. Any game, no-matter what, and they want to beat the ass off you. Sure I smile and say “Nae Bother”, when I lose but it hurts like hell inside. That’s why I wonder about some Tech Heads that get into SEO. My motto “screw the participation its the winning that counts!”

I’ve had it with all this SEO Rockstar crap as well. On one of the forums I frequent SEO Chat its turning into a flame war and how-big-are-your-balls contest. The way I see it is: The bigger your balls then the easier it is to kick you in the nuts. SEO is a community, sure there’s rivalry, the more the better, but when it starts flaming then that is when cliques are formed and in the whole the SEO community suffers in general.

Its easily fixed with a game of fitba then all that pent up aggression can be released but my legs are not up to that so that is why an SEO Contest is the best way to score a winning goal.
