We all know the tale of the 300 Spartans, how they stood strong, together, moulded as one, against an army 10, 20 even 100 times their size, according to some historians. Well, we at NSM are looking for 500 troops of our own by Christmas. That’s right, 500 Spartans of our very own! If you look over at our current Feedburner account (->) you’ll see we are sitting pretty at a whopping 10. Hey, Bo Derek did all right from 10 as well as Dudley Moore. But, tbh, it’s ok, but not quite right. We want, nay, need, 500 Spartans behind the NSM cause by the time we are all unwrapping our chrimbo pressies. Not exactly, an easy ask, for a small seo ecommerce company situated in the back woods of Ayrshire – Spartan Country – I’ll have you know!

Today is my partners birthday, her 40th birthday, at that. I was supposed to be getting ready shortly to start a BBQ as we have about 30 friends and family about to turn up in the next hour or so looking to be fed. But it’s raining big time, so it looks like its going to be an indoor celebration after all.

I like to think I add something refreshing to my own social media accounts, for one I don’t just sell myself or NorthSouthMedia permanently on any of the social media platforms I’m involved with. In an unrelated discussion with a fellow seo marketer, on Twitter, the other day, it became aware of how many companies are sitting there idly waiting for resources to be posted so they can go ahead and create their own blog post, basically ripping of someone else’s content, but done with the care-in-mind that their disemblance of the original post ain’t going to catch the attention of the OP (original poster) or even the Google Duplicate Content trawler.

A recent eCommerce project brought about the challenge of re-designing the URL involved with the internal pages of the site. Straight away, my internal thoughts said, “Keywords present, dashes seperated, lowercase, nice clean URL’s. Simples!” But this nagging feeling inside, wouldn’t go away. I wanted to make sure what I had read and practiced was actually the best way to proceed in today’s forever changing search environment.

Ask.com has brought back their popular man-servant ‘Jeeves’ as part of a UK facelift to entice more searchers to use their search engine instead of Google et al.
Jeeves, himself looks confident in his new look, displaying the thumbs in his jacket lapels displays a very assured look, indeed. Not only, has Ask brought out Jeeves from a 3 year retirement, they’ve also let him loose with their Twitter account (although, their pushing everything through the Hootsuite Toolbar, so expect ads very soon) and also bundled a Facebook profile with him as well, which should be fun.
Ask are hoping the new look will help bump up the numbers of the search engine : they claim it has 15 million monthly UK users.
