Fighting Copy Theft With Tynt Tracer

Quite a few weeks ago I noticed the Daily Mail run a cheeky little script on its web copy that when you copied and pasted an excerpt from one of its articles you also included a link back to the page where it was lifted from, for example :

The dementia affecting hundreds of thousands of Britons may be a legacy of the Second World War, a scientist has claimed.

InCase You Didn’t Notice…

We have undergone another rebrand here at NSM HQ. It is the first part of a total restucture of the site as we look to consolidate ourselves as one of the leading online promotional companies within Scotland.

We have many visual changes ready to be unleashed over the up-and-coming months which we hope will drive even more traffic to NSM.

Twitter Looks To Businesses For Revenue

The time is fast approaching for Twitter to start making money from its popular micro-blogging platform. Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter, talked of generating revenue in the fourth quarter. The way that Twitter chooses to monetise the site will no doubt be an interesting one. As many have been guessing and scratching their heads as to how this could be achieved and still see Twitter retain its popular status and continue to grow in user figures.

When Marketers Get It So Very, Very, Wrong

They say in life that timing is everything, with this in mind and the looming anniversary of 9/11 this Friday, you can understand why I balked when I saw the below ad. I have thought long and hard about publishing this blog post also the closeness to the 9/11 date itself but at-the-end-of-the-day thought it should be aired.

I have to highlight that I find the ad repulsive and FAIL to find any link between the two events that the ad is supposed to represent.

Nobody can denounce the success of Twestival last year. An online global success where cities around this big planet of ours get together and help host events in support of a local cause. The charity that has been chosen is No Strings Attached Scotland (NSA) that offer help to young people in Scotland that suffer with asthma.

Wow, iGoogle Now Doing Comic Themes

I may be a bit late about posting this, seeing as I took a 6 week break from blogging up until a couple of days ago but anybody that knows me, understands I’m a BIG comic fan, so guess my excitement levels when I noticed that iGoogle is now doing custom comic themes. Awesome! Having quickly flicked through the available comic themes, my favourites so far are : Captain America, Dilbert, Batman, Blackest Night (Green Lantern), Iron Man, Superman, Hulk and Hellboy.

NSM in the SEO Green Team

Always one for being at the front of the queue to light the touchpaper, Edward Lewis of SEO Consultants ran an interesting test on a wide and varied selection of sites involved within the SEO and SMM industry and reported how those stood-up to being validated.

I’m glad to say that North South Media passed and got in the icon-valid SEO Green Team.

Think Visibility Seminar

For those that make a living online I’m glad to announce that Think Visibility is back! The 1 day conference will be held at Alea Casino Conference Area, about 25 minutes walk from Leeds train station ( I can vouch for this because we got lost enroute to Think Viz the last time and we ended up outside the Casino, ironically).

I Don’t Do Follow Friday Twitter Lists But If I Did…

I tend to ‘wangle my way’ out of Twitter come every Friday, it’s nothing to do with the site in general, just I can’t be bothered posting ‘Follow Friday’ lists or see them appearing in my timeline. Yep, when it comes to a Friday on Twitter, I do the ol’ drop-the-shoulder routine, start speaking out the side of my mouth, saying such things like, ‘How’s Yer Father?’ And blend quietly into the background.

However, I do appreciate my followers, and don’t want them to think of myself as some sorta ignoramus (which I’m not, I’m quite a gentle person that just gets grumpy from time-to-time), so I have devised this post, where instead of participating in the Twitter FollowFriday link orgy, I thought, come each and every Friday, I’d send them here, instead, a list of people/organisations/businesses which I give my glowing recommendation to following on Twitter.

Taking A Bath With Your Socks On

Today, this morning especially, I was really irritable when checking some Google local serps I became as grumpy as sin, and for anyone who knows me or has worked with me, I have an over-active grumpy gene which flares up every-now-and-again. Anyway, being absolutely baffled by the results Google were supplying myself, hardly any sleep and it being ‘that time of the month’ for me grumpyitis to kick in, I made the following Tweet on Twitter…
