Hoots, Mon! Is This How Others See Us
As a Scot I’m proud of my country and I’m proud of my heritage. So, when I was on Sphinn today and saw this headline in the up-and-coming section it kinda grabs my attention:
Men Are From Mars, Bloggers Are From Scotland
So I decided to investigate a little further. Upon clicking through to the blog I’m confronted with this:
How come bloggers are scottish?
First of all let’s understand the meaning of bloggers are scottish. The scots are renowned for: bravery (see BraveHeart), for manly dresses and for cheapness. And cheapness is where I wanted to get.
First of all check the lack of capitalisation on the word “Scottish”! He then goes on to make the statement that the Scots are “cheap”! Now, as far as I am aware that we have been stereotyped as “Tight” but never “cheap”.

This not only made me choke on my deep-fried Mars Bar but the next part made me want to go outside and kick the next-door neighbour’s Haggis up-and-down the street.
The author goes on about bloggers monetizing their site and the lack of click-through’s on their ads, something that has been discussed already (and better) over on Tim Nash’s Blog. The blogger then finishes it all off with this beauty:
If you do contribute, you’re one of the good guyz, otherwise you’re a SCOT!
Meaning if you do click-on ads, especially on this blogger’s site, then your a good guy otherwise, we’ll otherwise your just like the Scottish who don’t contribute. Ah, so now we’re getting somewhere. He has us tagged as cheap and takers-rather-than-givers. Hoots, Mon!
This full blog has had the NoFollow tags ripped out and are nowhere to be seen in-case anyone wants to post some good feedback.
The blogger also goes on to say that he prefers one-way links – so not being “cheap” I’d like to link to his post so you can all see it in its full context: Here .
